Church History
Pastor Vernon L. Fowler received Jesus Christ in November 1987 and was eventually assigned to Fort Hood, Texas in
1994 where he joined the Christian House of Prayer. Pastor Fowler served for the next 4 years as an altar counselor under
the leadership of Apostle Nate and Valerie Holcomb, and became a trained and equipped son for the work that God had called
him to.
In March 1998, Pastor Fowler and his family received orders to Brussels, Belgium. Before departing, the Holy Spirit spoke to
Pastor and said: “You will preach the Gospel in Belgium and prepare the people for the coming of the Lord.”
Pastor Fowler and his family arrived in Brussels in June 1998 and immediately began to pursue the vision of God, but the
doors seemed to be closed. However, the doors were not locked! God again spoke to him in March of 1999 and said: “Get the
Bible study started.” In obedience to the Lord, Pastor Fowler began the Focus on Jesus Bible Study with his family.
Then in June of 1999, the Lord prompted him to initiate the action for the Full Gospel service, and miraculously, every door
was opened. On October 17, 1999, the first-ever Full Gospel service was birthed in the Brussels American Chapel.
Now after five years of growth and prosperity, the Fowlers prepared to return to the United States to retire from the military
and launch into full time ministry. But, God had another plan. In March 2004, Pastor Fowler departed on a week long trip to the
State of Georgia to handle family business in preparation for the family’s arrival in the month of June.
Upon returning from the States, God spoke to the pastor and said: “The work in Belgium is not done yet.” God told Pastor
Fowler that He wanted him to go to the SHAPE /Chievres area and continue the work he had begun in Brussels. In obedience
once again to the Lord, the pastor discussed this vision with his family and approached the chaplain. And on July 11, 2004,
the Focus on Jesus Full Gospel Church relocated to Mons, and began ministering in the Daumerie Chapel with 18 members.
In less than one year, and after tremendous growth, FOJ would be led by the Holy Spirit to move yet again. God spoke to the
pastor in April 2005, and said to “tell the chaplain that we would move by June 1, 2005”, and FOJ began ministering at the
Mercure Hotel.
While we ministered in the hotel and aggressively released our faith in God for over 9 months, The Lord fulfilled His promise,
and on March 4, 2006 FOJ had its building dedication and celebration, and moved into a newly renovated and fully furnished
church facility.
In September 2006, during Apostle Holcomb’s European visit, Pastor Fowler received yet another word from the Lord, as
Pastor Valerie prophesied and confirmed what the Lord had spoken privately to Pastor Fowler that “he would be the next
Presbyter of CCI-Europe.” As Pastor Fowler prayed and pondered the word of the Lord for almost 2 years, the next move
would not take place until the summer of 2008.
After witnessing 4 more years of the miraculous power of God, Pastor Fowler was contacted by Presbyter Charles Johnson
that it was time to move yet again to Landstuhl, Germany. And on 3 August 2008, the Christian House of Prayer Europe was
birthed. Pastor Fowler was later set aside by Apostle Holcomb as the Presbyter and overseer of CCI-Europe as the Lord had
promised.
Recalling the humble beginnings of FOJ, the congregation can reflect and see what God has done through our pastor. We
can boldly declare that it is the Lord's doing and it is absolutely marvelous in our eyes. To God be the glory, in Jesus' Name!
